The most common fail in the whole report: the phone number is in the header image, or the first button on the page is Read our story. The site should make the call the easiest thing on it.

  • Works on a phone

    No sideways scrolling, fewer than 5 buttons or links too small to tap, and body text at least 14 pixels tall on a phone.

  • Ways to reach you

    A tap-to-call phone link on every page, a main contact form of 6 fields or fewer, and either live chat or a stated reply time.

  • Own your customer list

    An email or text-message sign-up on the site: a newsletter, tips, offers or reminders form, or a sign-up box from an email-list service built into the page. A quote form does not count.

  • Tap to call on a phone

    A tap-to-call link or button visible in the first screen on a phone.

  • Call to action on a phone

    The first call or contact button visible in the first screen on a phone.

  • Form usable on a phone

    Form fields at least 44 pixels tall, a label on every field, and nothing spilling off the edge of the screen on a phone.
